Sam

To our knowledge, Sam is the only person to have played every links course in Great Britain. The 225 courses he played over the space of two years, now form the basis of his ‘Links from the Road’ book series.

Sam co-founded the British based Golf Architectural firm of McDonnell & Cooper alongside his long term friend and design collaborator, Joe McDonnell. They both trained as associates with the global golf design firm of Clayton, DeVries and Pont – Sam going on to serve as the firm’s main architectural consultant based in Britain.

Sam is often asked to speak on architecture and links golf as an expert on the subject for podcasts and at speaking events around the world. Additionally, he co-hosts the Golf Badgers podcast on greenkeeping and architecture, and regularly contributes to a wide range of golf magazines and websites.
